A global network
The Australian Parliamentary Group on Population and Development is part of a regional network of similar groups - the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development, and works with other similar parliamentary groups around the globe.
The International Parliamentarians Conference on Implementation (IPCI) of the International Conference on Population and Development was most recently held in 2018, hosted by the Canadian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development.
The Conference succeeded in promoting dialogue among parliamentarians from all regions of the world on the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action, with a view to achieving further commitment to collective action in the areas of resource mobilisation and the creation of an enabling policy environment for population and development.
The AFPPD hosts regular forums for members of the region's parliaments to gain increased understanding and in-depth knowledge on population and development issues. Recent forums have foucsed on three strategic priorities: gender equality and women’s empowerment, investing in youth, and active ageing.
